As third generation teacher, Lusiana has been teaching piano in Canada since 1991, and founded the Classical Music Conservatory in Toronto in 1997.

Lusiana Lukman is a Chinese Canadian artist of many talents and inspiration. Her artistic exploration was developed early on from her piano studies, to art, to composing and photography. Lusiana is continually exploring new ways and venues to communicate her artistic and spiritual ideas. Lusiana was first introduced to the piano at age three in Indonesia by her own mother. Her pivotal move to Canada began her artistic development.

Lusiana Lukman was born in Jakarta, Indonesia. Growing up in a musical family has given her love for music since childhood. Her mother, a pianist and teacher herself began teaching Lusiana at age of three. She continued her musical studies at S.M.Y.P.M at the age of five, where in her final years she studied with Ibu Irawati M. Sudiarso. She left for Canada at the age of fourteen and has made Canada her home since. In 1991, she completed both her Piano Performer and Teacher program at the Royal Conservatory of Music where she studied with pianist James Anagnosson. In the same year, she became a Canadian resident.

In 1994 she started her composition studies with Dr. Anthony Dawson, and her passion of composing let her to finish her Master of composition at the Faculty of Music, University of Toronto. There, she worked with prominent composers such as Christos Hatzis and Chan Ka Nin.

As a composer, Lusiana is actively developing her language in both acoustic and electroacoustic music. Lusiana has received numerous awards, commissions and scholarships for her solo, chamber and choral compositions, in Canada, Indonesia, China and USA, where her compositions have been performed. Her works have been showcased in BANFF centre, the Arts and Letters Club, the Music Gallery, the ArtWord Theater, the University of Toronto as well as in other venues throughout Canada. She has been granted commissions by the Ontario Arts Council to write pieces for renowned artists such as Shauna Rolston and Maria Gacesa. Lusiana is currently embarking in composing music for film, documentary as well as continuing to write for solo, chamber and orchestral music.

Aside from composing and teaching music, Lusiana also does photography and oil painting to express her inspiration and love of God and the little things in life.
