Heather first began learning piano at the age of six. She quickly moved to private lessons with Elaina Lanina for several years. Upon Ms. Lanina's retirement, Heather started taking lessons with Lusiana Lukman, founder of the Classical Music Conservatory. Under the instruction of Ms. Lukman, Erik Ross and Heather Schmidt, Heather completed all theory and practical examinations. She has also participated in numerous music competitions including Davenport and Peel, winning several awards.
Heather participated in the Co-op program at her high school as a teacher's assistant. Because of this program, Heather found her calling: being a teacher. Currently, she is attending York University's Glendon Campus in the program of French Studies.
Heather has taught at CMC since 2005, starting off as Lusiana Lukman's teaching assistant in theory and history. She has found that through what she has learnt from Ms. Lukman and Dr. Ross, she loves teaching theory and history. Working alongside Ms. Lukman, Heather McInroy has helped many of her students do well throughout the year in and at RCM examinations.
She is looking forward to teaching this year's preliminary music theory classes and sharing her love for music in her students. Aside from piano, Heather also plays the flute and guitar.
