Aleksandra Labinska,

Aleksandra Labinska was born in Krakow (Poland) and started her music education there at the age of four. Playing both violin and piano, she is a recipient of numerous scholarships and awards, including, the award for promising artist from Krakow Arts Council, special mention (2006 Felix Galimir Chamber Music Award), Ronald P. Matheson Scholarship (Banff Centre for the Arts) and David and Marcia Beach Summer Study Award (University of Toronto). Aleksandra appeared as a soloist with the Young Krakow Philharmonic Orchestra, with which she had a pleasure of touring France, Germany, Holland, Belgium and Italy. She has performed recitals and chamber music concerts across Europe and collaborated with such artists as Jean Pierre Menuge, Anne Lise Gillet, Dan Ross, Krzysztof Lewandowski, Piotr Sulkowski, Rob van Dijk and Krzysztof Penderecki. As a concertmaster of the Ostinato Chamber Orchestra, Aleksandra had a chance to participate in many national and international projects. She has performed in master classes given by Midori, Emerson String Quartet, St. Lawrence String Quartet, Erika Raum, Berlin String Quartet, Jacques Israelievitch, Lara St. John and studied violin with Antoni Cofalik, Mark Fewer and Scott St. John. Her piano trio, Polaris, was selected to participate in the Banff Summer Chamber Music Program and the 2006 Toronto Summer Music Academy studying with world renowned artists such as Leipzig String Quartet, John Perry, Marietta Orlov, Gryphon Trio, Andre Laplante and Terrance Helmer of the Orford String Quartet. Aleksandra has been recently invited to play with the Mooredale Concerto Players in the 2006/2007 season. She has completed the Professional Performance Studies program at the Glenn Gould School of the Royal Conservatory of Music and is currently working towards her Bachelor of Music Degree in Performance at the University of Toronto, studying with the Gryphon Trio violinist Annalee Patipatanakoon.
