Cheng-Feng Lin, B.Mus.Piano Performance (McGill), M.Mus. M. MUS. with Distinction in Dalcroze Eurhythmics Certification (Longy School of Music, USA)
Piano, Dalcroze Eurhythmics Certification for teaching children and adults

Mr. Cheng Feng Lin has just moved to Toronto in the summer of 2006, after seven years of teaching and living in Boston. He is thrilled to be back in Canada, and be of service to the communities that are devoted to quality musical education.

While in Boston, he has taught private piano lessons in community music school settings and also at his private studio at home. Being a certified and licensed teacher in Dalcroze method, Mr. Lin has taught Dalcroze eurhythmics group classes to both young children and adults.

Dalcroze is one of the three major philosophies of music education (the other two being Kodaly and Orff). A Dalcroze class focuses on learning the elements of music through active listening and response through natural movement. These classes serve as an introduction to music for young children before they take instrumental lessons. And many children keep attending classes while studying their instruments - that is where they experience the theory and ear-training components of their musical development.

Mr. Lin has also enjoyed the experience in preparing children for performing in local festivals, and RCM piano exams (the exam system has been made available in USA for many years). His students have achieved the highest marks in the exam centre, and always achieved first class honour and better.

Asides from my regular teaching tasks in schools, I have also organized other events, such as helping children and family transitioning from a group class to private lesson settings, organizing faculty meeting, facilitating parents' information evenings, lead demo classes in open houses, create and perform original composer stories for children, and host the annual year-end presentation of children classes.

Cheng-Feng loves teaching, developing young musicians, working with families, but what matters me most is the student's relationship with music. My greatest delight is when I see students blossom, and see them take the initiative to be musically inspired. Enclosed you may find a copy of my resume and a list of subjects of what I can offer, and therefore possibly develop depending on the needs of your community. If you would like to see a demo class, as to how I work with students, I would offer you with delight. Feel free to contact me and let me know how I can be of help.

In his own words, Mr. Lin looks forward to serving Toronto's musical community with inspiration, enthusiasm, patience, expertise, clarity, and effectiveness through my teaching and interacting with the families.
