WHY LEARN CHESS?
Chess is more than a game, it teaches players of all ages strategic thinking in a structured, progressive and fun manner. Just like music, studies have shown that students' IQ increase and kids excel at everything that they do as they learn more from structured fun courses such as music and chess.
BENEFITS OF LEARNING TO PLAY CHESS:
- People love to learn when they have fun, chess turns problem-solving into a game
- Chess is a thinking game, therefore it encourages students to use patterns and strategic, forward looking reasoning to solve problems.
- Developes excellent memory and concentration
- Self-confidence
WHO IS TEACHING IT?
Alan Demsky's passion and enthusiasm for the game of chess carries over into his unique approach to teaching. His seminars at Humber College and around the GTA have been bringing the game to life for both adults and children over the past three years. An astute student of the game himself, Alan's classes focus on how lessons learned during play can be carried over into life.
