Children's Choir for 5-9 year olds
What is it?
The CMC Children's Choir is a structured yet non-demanding and most of all, FUN young children's choir where students can experience choral ensemble using the instrument they were born with: their voices! Students will learn a range of repertoire, with the main focus being for the children to have a positive, joyful experience while learning the basics of music and choral singing.
Primary Goals
Our primary goals for our children's choir are as follows:
1. To provide basic choral instruction including vocal training, pitch recognition and rhythm development in a fun and friendly environment.
2. To enrich our choir members' understanding and enjoyment of choral music.
3. To enable our choir members in acquiring confidence, self-esteem and discipline during the learning process.
4. To provide performance opportunities that will promote a sense of accomplishment for our choir members.
5. To expose our choir members to a wide range of musical genres and multicultural repertoire.
6. To contribute musically to our Roncesvalles community by various choral performances throughout the year.
When is it?
The CMC Children's Choir will commence September 13th, 2007 (until June 5th, 2008), and practices will be held every Thursday from 4:15 to 5:15pm. There will be recitals in December and June, and occasional performances in the community.
How much does it cost?
The cost for the year is $300 per student, which includes the cost of a CMC Choir purple t-shirt, the uniform of the children's choir. A refundable deposit of $25 for music is required, and will be refunded at the year-end or upon withdrawal from the choir once the music is returned in good condition. There is a discount of $50 off for each additional family member joining. Price includes 36 weekly hour long practices plus our recitals and performances throughout the year.
