MAKE YOUR OWN MINI-MUSICAL! This exciting full day camp has students creating their own musical working with our amazing high calibre artists for voice, acting and composition: Kyra Millan, artist educator for the Canadian Opera Company, Rosanna Saracino, head of acting at the Randolph Academy for the Performing Arts, and accomplished composer Cathy Nosaty.

Vocal Component: Through fun, playful warm up games, kids explore singing technique and learn to expand their range and singing ability, so they can sing their compositions with confidence!

Drama Component: Elements of improvisation, choreography and acting technique are implemented to instruct students on the building blocks of character and play creation and development. Through these techniques, students own ideas are shaped into dynamic theatrical performances.

Composition Component: Musical improvisation is encouraged and explored, with students learning a bit about music composition. Ear training skills are developed as they create their own songs and movement pieces and learn and explore the connection between music and drama!

Students work in groups according to their age, with the week culminating in a special performance for parents, caregivers and families.

4-6 year olds

*Extended care between 1:00-5:00pm available for an additional cost.

Music in the Rainforest is this year's theme, with the following daily components: 

• music time (singing, movement, musical games)
• art creations time (creating artwork based on our Rainforest theme)
• drumming circle (working on their sense of rhythm)
• instrument demonstrations (each day the children get a hands-on experience with a different instrument to try out - a child-sized cello, violin, pressing the keys on a clarinet to see how the pitch changes...etc)
• practicing a short musical drama that they will present to parents/caregivers on the last day of camp
• quiet storytime related to our theme to end each day

Our CMC Summer Rock Band Camp is a half day camp where guitar, bass, keyboard, vocal and drum students come together and learn to play songs by their favourite bands: Metric, The Beatles, Coldplay, The White Stripes...etc.

Improve your ear training, reading, writing, timing, and playing abilities while having fun! This is your chance to ROCK out with your friends, classmates and other CMC students. Students will be recorded on the last day of camp and will receive a CD of their own music.

Maximum 5 students per group.

 *Students need to have at least 10 years old with a minimum of 2 years' experience on their instrument: drum kit, electric guitar, electric bass, keyboards and vocals. Your teachers recommendation would also be required to enter this camp. Thank you.
